Control

First of all let me report in on my weight watcher meeting and the numbers. I lost 4 pounds!!! So my official loss for my first week of the year is 4 pounds! WOOO HOOOO!!

Of late I've been in a rather blah mood. You might even say I've been depressed. I feel as if my world is spinning madly out of control and I don't know where to grab hold...or how to grab hold...or even if grabbing hold will help. I stress about my weight. I worry about money (owning your own business...while it definitely has it's perks, it also makes my husbands income subjective to the weather, to clients, equipment breakdowns, etc). I can go on with the things in life I have no control over.Intrinsically I know that my actions and decisions do ultimately affect everythign, but it feels like so little....and if feels as if everything is so subjective. So while I have a say in some minor areas.....I really have no control over any of it. Yet, I worry and fret about these things that I have no control over.

So for some reason, I don't even know what sparked me to think this, last night I decided that I'm going to focus on the one thing that I have total and utter control over. There is only one thing that me, myself and I have complete 100% control over. Guessed it yet? My weight...and my weight loss. Maybe if I have control over at least one area of my life, that the 'blah's' will go away!

  2. I decided to answer your question here, as well as on my own blog.

The Wii Fit Plus is great if you choose the right activities. It has strength, aerobics, balance and yoga. I add additional strength exercises because I can't do push ups until after I have my surgery and recover from it, and without push ups the Wii Fit does very little for your upper body. I also add flexibility exercises because I don't balance well enough to do most of the Yoga poses without falling off the board.
The Free run is the biggest calorie burner, the hula hoop comes in next. Free Step is low intensity cardio, I stay in the low end of my target range. Wii Fit Plus has a big advantage over the original Wii Fit, because you can go through all the strength exercises you choose without stopping by setting up a personal routine. Same with the Yoga. Island Cycling can be good cardio, but it depends how you do it, you can peddle fast or slow, you can lift your knees or barely shift your weight back and forth. I lift my knees, or if I'm going up hill I lift just my heels and peddle fast, because it works better on hills.
I enjoy the Wii Fit, but I also plan to supplement it as my fitness improves.

One advantage is that you can be indoors, if you aren't crazy about winter weather its nice not to have to go out to exercise.

  4. I realized that before I came and commented and didn't even read your post, so I came back. I think 4 pounds is awesome, and for the rest I know how you feel, just take it one day at a time and try to have faith.

My husband may get laid off in the next year, we don't know what we'll do if that happens. We are trying to save some emergency money and otherwise taking the attitude that worrying won't change anything so why do it?

Prayer helps, and trusting that God is in control of all those things I can do nothing about!
